The Pisgah Group covers Transylvania, Henderson, and Polk Counties, and the towns of Cashiers and Highlands in  Jackson and Macon Counties in western NC.

The Group meets regularly to sponsor programs of general conservation and environmental interest, normally
at 7 pm  on the 4th Thursday of each month, (next meetings date, details),  at the Brevard Unitarian Church( check meeting notice for directions).  Meetings are now also being scheduled in Hendersonville by the Four Seasons Committee of the Pisgah Group.
Members living in Henderson County are urged to participate in their activities (Next meeting notice) and conservation efforts.

Please note that the Group is having a holiday party on Thurs, Dec. 3  at the Unitarian Universalist church in Brevard.  See the newsletter link for details.
Conservation is the main reason for the existence of the Pisgah Group.  Among the conservation issues in which our Group is particularly interested are Energy Policy and Global Warming, National Forest management, (particularly protecting Roadless Areas, air quality, Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Gorges State Park, and DuPont State Forest).  A conservation committee has recently formed, with current emphasis on how one goes about promoting solutions to issues.  See Pisgah Conscom for more detail.

The Group published its last newsletter covering Nov/Dec 09.  Future information about meetings, outings and conservation issues will be published on this website.

The Pisgah Group is managed by an executive committee ("excom") elected by the general membership of the Group each year.  The committee meets each third Monday evening in Brevard at St. Phillips Church in a rear basement room entered from rear of the Church) at 5:00pm.  Bring a picnic supper, or come at 5:30.   Call a member of excom for more details and directions.  Any Sierra member is welcome, (and encouraged!), to attend these meetings.

Here's how to join Sierra Club
The Pisgah Group and the National Sierra Club are the same 501 C(4) non-profit legal entity. The local Pisgah Group is empowered to speak on behalf of the entire Sierra Club on issues that fall wholly within the Group's geographic jurisdiction. The Sierra Club engages in the full range of electoral politics allowed by law. Because the Club has registered political action committees at the federal and state level, the Pisgah Group is able to make political endorsements at every level of government within its political boundaries, from US Congress to local county commissioner races.
