White Water Rafting Trip to the US National Whitewater Center in Charlotte

Rafting trips start and 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and participants may sign-up for one or both trips. The outing ends at 3 p.m.
Details:
Paddle through non-stop class II-IV whitewater on the world's largest man-made recirculating river! These fully guided raft trips take you through the heart of the USNWC 300 acre wooded facility, providing an unparalleled whitewater experience minutes from uptown Charlotte. Over the course of the two hour trip, you'll surf waves on the wilderness section and challenge your skills on the tight turns of the competition channel. After a run down, you will ride a conveyor belt back to the upper pond to take on another channel!
Rafting gear provided by USNWC are personal floatation device, helmet, and paddle. Additional rental gear are available for a fee and include wetsuits, booties & splash jackets.
For warm weather bring a bathing suit/shorts/t-shirt, synthetic quick drying clothing is ideal. For cooler weather bring bathing suit, rain jacket and/or pants, long underwear, wool shirts/sweaters and warm socks. DO NOT WEAR COTTON jeans or shirts as they will only make you colder. Secure footwear with a heel strap are required. Examples are old sneakers, water shoes, or saddles with heel strap and rubber sole. Bring a towel, dry change of warm clothes and shoes, eyeglass strap and sunscreen.
Required for this trip are a $10 refundable deposit plus a signed Sierra Club liability waiver for all participants. Contact the leader for forms, sign and date them, make checks payable to the Sierra Club, and return to the leader at the address provided below. Applications must be received 10 days prior to the trip. Deposits will be returned only at USNWC prior to the start of rafting trip. Ages 11+ are welcome, however, all minors under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their adult, legal guardian and will be required to sign a separate Sierra Club form. Inquire with the leader.
Our discounted rafting rate is $58.50 per person for each rafting trip and payable to USNWC along with an additional $5.00 per car parking fee. Camping is $15 or $22 per night, available at the McDowell Nature Preserve 15222 York Road Charlotte, NC, but is not part of the outing nor is travel to USNWC.
